Calling artists and makers! …Rabey’s Meryl Ainslie will be joining the selection panel for this year’s Black Swan Arts Open. If you have work that you could enter, why not submit a photo of it online this week for the chance to exhibit in the Open exhibition and win some great prizes. If you are a recent graduate you could also win a place on a Rabley drawing or printmaking course.
Black Swan Arts is inviting submissions for its 2014 Arts Open competition and exhibition and there is one week left to enter. This national competition and show is in its 12th year and will encompass a diverse range of works including painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, print, photography and digital media.
The Open attracts talented contemporary artists and makers from across the UK and will be judged by respected arts’ practitioners from a variety of backgrounds and fields of expertise. We are delighted to announce our 2014 judges as: Meryl Ainslie, artist and director of Rabley Drawing Centre; international installation and light artist, Bruce Munro; glass artist and graduate of The Royal College, Shelley James; London-based artist sculptor Stephen Haines and the artist, author and former curator at the V&A, Christopher Bucklow.
Up to seventy works will be selected for an exhibition that will run from 6th December until 10th January 2015, plus further prizes including:
- £750 first prize
- £250 Bax Family Fine Arts Prize
- £250 Peoples’ Choice Award
- The Rabley Graduate Prize (2-3 day drawing/printmaking course).
- The Glass Hub Prize of a one-day glassblowing experience
Submission is via a simple 3 stage online process: 1. enter your details, 2. upload your images and 3. pay for your entry. A maximum of 4 works can be submitted at £10 per entry. Work in any medium will be considered including fine, applied and digital works.
