Japanese Woodcut 43 x 55cm
Edition of 25

‘Sea Change’ is a series of three atmospheric Japanese woodcuts by Sara Lee, drawn from the artist’s native Wales and the Thames estuary. They are both observant and symbolic of the beauty and the disquiet of landscape in change. The imagery draws the eye across the water to a beckoning horizon. Lee’s subtle palette of looming tones and gravid skies hold their strong presence with the seemingly unremarkable, but beautiful colour grey.

Sara Lee has used a painterly approach with the Japanese method to apply layers of colour directly on to multiple woodblocks. Using very few cut blocks, the images are hand-printed onto Japanese paper. ‘Looming’ has 10 layers and only two cut blocks; ‘Transition’ has 11 layers, and no cut blocks at all.‘

We are offering a special Pre-Publication price before and during the fair of £650 each for these prints. After the fair the price will be £695. View Sara Lee’s prints for the print fair.
