Rabley Gallery Website

We have been delighted to welcome artist Sadie Tierney to be in residence in the Rabley Drawing Centre print–room making stunning woodcuts for her forthcoming exhibition ‘Of Night and Light and the Half-light’.

Monumental in scale, she has honed the blocks and cut the images using hand and mechanical tools, never loosing the freshness of the drawing translated from her sketched and sometimes drawn directly onto the plywood sheets.

Even the large press could not cope with printing the works in one piece. saw. Continue reading

“This image It is in part influenced by a 1950’s Japanese film and in part a picture about love so strong you ignore everything else. There is nothing in the world apart from those two figures. They are in a vortex of passion and love like Tristan und Isolde have for each other. Their passion  detaches them from reality. Hence they are in their boat far off from anything else.”

Hammick has an international reputation for his stunning colourful printmaking. Selected Exhibitions – UK: Brighton Museum and Art Gallery; Rabley Drawing Centre; Flowers Gallery, London; USA: Flowers New York, Yale Centre for British Art; The Library of Congress, Washington DC.; Canada: Christina Parker Gallery; France: Hypnagogic; Galerie Prodromus, Paris. Public Collections – UK: British Museum; Victoria and Albert Museum. France: Bibliotheque Nationale de France Bank.

The Summer Exhibition at Rabley Drawing Centre brings together 15 artists from the Drawing and Print School. Each has made work that is highly individual within the creative and supportive Studio & Print Sessions at Rabley.

The regular Studio & Print sessions offer weekly ongoing creative development and support throughout the year. Experimental and conventional drawing underpins the variety of print disciplines. The school’s focus on developing work through new technologies including acid free and non – toxic printmaking has brought a vitality to the studio as each artist researches and develops the potential of their ideas through various media.

A stimulating dialogue with visiting artist tutors Meryl Ainslie, Sara Lee, Endellion Lycett Green, Nik Pollard, and Emma Stibbon RA, along with the support of Rabley Studio Printmaker Amy-Jane Blackhall, has enabled the development of exciting new work over the last year.
